Birkhead Facing Lawsuit

Situation: This past Monday, Larry Birkhead's former laywer, Debra Opri, filed a lawsuit against Birkhead, claiming that he damaged her reputation by making defamatory remarks. The remarks include saying that she was the source for the book, "Blonde Ambition: The Story Behind Anna Nicole's Death". Opri also accuses Birkhead of manipulating the media and maximizing profits after Anna Nicole's death.

Objective:
-Show that Birkhead is the victim in this scenerio and display to the public that he is not responsible for any of the claims that Opri made, and that his motives were never to damage her reputation.
-Win the lawsuit

Audience:
- I think the court and legal system need the most convincing so they are the primary target audience
-Also, the public, primarily adults, who are watching the news and are interested in celebrity legal battles

Strategy:
-Have Birkhead present himself in the next few months as a responsible young man, making public appearences, responding to interviews or press releases if asked to, and showing up to court dates on time.
-Holding his ground by telling the public he did make claims about Opri being the cause for the "Blonde Ambition" book, but they were not intended to ruin her life.
-The most important thing for Birkhead at this time, because he has been bombarded with a number of lawsuits in the past year, is to appear confident and happy to the media, but also to avoid attention as much as possible. It is important for him to lay low the next month or two to show the public that he doesn't just want attention from the media.

Tactics:
- Have Birkhead respond to the press in interviews, if asked, explaining his side of the story, and denying any intention of hurting Opri.
-Keep Birkhead out of controversy, if possible, for the next couple months by having him spend time with his daughter and family, away from the cameras and paparrazi. This will show the legal system and public that he is not seeking media attention because of this controversy.
-For court dates, have Birkhead arrive on time, looking presentable and confident.

Timetable: about 2-5 months, depending on when the court date will be announced.

Evaluation:
-The easiest way to evaluate if these tactics were successful, is to research tabloids, newpapers, etc., in the next month or two to see how the public is responding to Birkhead's crisis and if any false claims or nasty comments have been made about him.
-If the legal battle goes well and if the court proceedings are successful, Birkhead will walk away without any lawsuit.
