Birkhead Facing Lawsuit

Situation: This past Monday, Larry Birkhead's former laywer, Debra Opri, filed a lawsuit against Birkhead, claiming that he damaged her reputation by making defamatory remarks. The remarks include saying that she was the source for the book, "Blonde Ambition: The Story Behind Anna Nicole's Death". Opri also accuses Birkhead of manipulating the media and maximizing profits after Anna Nicole's death.

Objective:
-Show that Birkhead is the victim in this scenerio and display to the public that he is not responsible for any of the claims that Opri made, and that his motives were never to damage her reputation.
-Win the lawsuit

Audience:
- I think the court and legal system need the most convincing so they are the primary target audience
-Also, the public, primarily adults, who are watching the news and are interested in celebrity legal battles

Strategy:
-Have Birkhead present himself in the next few months as a responsible young man, making public appearences, responding to interviews or press releases if asked to, and showing up to court dates on time.
-Holding his ground by telling the public he did make claims about Opri being the cause for the "Blonde Ambition" book, but they were not intended to ruin her life.
-The most important thing for Birkhead at this time, because he has been bombarded with a number of lawsuits in the past year, is to appear confident and happy to the media, but also to avoid attention as much as possible. It is important for him to lay low the next month or two to show the public that he doesn't just want attention from the media.

Tactics:
- Have Birkhead respond to the press in interviews, if asked, explaining his side of the story, and denying any intention of hurting Opri.
-Keep Birkhead out of controversy, if possible, for the next couple months by having him spend time with his daughter and family, away from the cameras and paparrazi. This will show the legal system and public that he is not seeking media attention because of this controversy.
-For court dates, have Birkhead arrive on time, looking presentable and confident.

Timetable: about 2-5 months, depending on when the court date will be announced.

Evaluation:
-The easiest way to evaluate if these tactics were successful, is to research tabloids, newpapers, etc., in the next month or two to see how the public is responding to Birkhead's crisis and if any false claims or nasty comments have been made about him.
-If the legal battle goes well and if the court proceedings are successful, Birkhead will walk away without any lawsuit.

Too Young?

Situation:
-Determined new model Maddison Gabriel was recently named the face of Gold Coast Fashion Week; however, she is only 12 years old. Many feel that she is extremely too young and has yet to fully develop. Maddison argues, however, that she can fit perfectly fine into women clothing and easily strut the runway.

Objectives:
-I want to be able to save Maddison's modeling career and dream
-People will understand that even though she is young, she has the potential to be a model
-Even though she is young, adults need to be shown that having Maddison model does not sexualize children.
-Show audience that it's not about what age you model, but if you can do the job.

Audience:
-Older adults, particularly working in the fashion industry and in Australia.

Strategy:
-Have Maddison continue to appear in fashion week and runway shows, but for designers geared towards teen and young adult clothing. Her look needs to be more innocent.
-Have Maddison appear on television or radio interviews, explaining that she is not being forced to do her job, but simply does it because it is what she loves.
-Possible make Maddison's image more innocent and appropriate for her age.

Tactics:
- Have Maddison continue to appear in runway shows so that people can see how serious she is about keeping her job.
- Have Maddison model for top designers, such as Tommy Hilfigers, but only clothing for their youthful audience.
-Have Maddison appear in Teen Vogue or Cosmo Girl modeling clothing fit for teens.
-Have Maddison appear on MTV to explain to younger viewers why she is fit to model at her age.
-Have Maddison appear on the Tyra Banks show to explain her story. Tyra started out modeling at a young age, so would understand and have sympathy towards younger models.
-Have Maddison be homeschooled so she is educated, but can work at the same time.

Timetable:
- The success of my campaign would take about a year to complete
-Getting in touch with Tommy Hilfiger and having her model his youthful clothing would take a few months to work out negotiations.
-Schedule appearences on MTV and the Tyra Banks show would take about 2 months.
-Having Maddison appear on Teen Vogue or Cosmo Girl would take up to 1 or 2 months after contact and negotiations.
-Having Maddison appear in next years fashion week would take about a year of preperation since this years fashion week, in which Maddison was named the face of Gold Coast fashion week, just completed.

Method of Evaluation:
-success of viewers watching her appearence on MTV and Tyra Banks show
-the positive feedback from her appearences in Teen Vogue and Cosmo Girl.
- Whether or not designers allow Maddison to appear in runway shows throughout the year
-Whether or not designers allow Maddison to appear in fashion week.
-If Maddison's contract isn't broken, then her agency will still allow her to model for them.

Vanessa's Crisis

Situation:
The crisis revolves around the squeaky-clean High School Musical star, Vanessa Hudgens, whose own naked photographs taken a couple years ago in private have recently leaked onto the internet for all to see.

Objectives:
The objectives of my PR campaign would be to refresh and repair Vanessa’s image, which is currently strained and possibly destroyed, and to reassure her fans, mostly younger children, that she is still innocent and is sorry for her mistakes. Her fan base needs to be built up to what it was before the scandal and allow her to still appear in Disney films, more specifically High School Musical 3.

Audience: The audience would be children and younger teens ranging from age 6-15 that are fans of the Disney Channel, and their parents who may be concerned with having their children use Vanessa as a role model.

Strategy:
-Have media appearances in order to present Vanessa in a positive manner, displaying her innocence.
-Create a different image showing her as a women, serious actress, and role model for younger children through interview, press releases, and appearances.
-Create another fan base not only consisting of younger teens and children, but a generation a bit older.
-Communicate to the public through endorsements, appearances, and dedication to her work, that she is a responsible adult and allow Disney to believe that she can still play an innocent and girl-next-door role in the upcoming High School Musical film.

Tactics:
-Make appearances on talk shows and interviews, such as Jay Leno, in order to present her side of the story and admit what she did wrong and how it will be fixed.
-Become a spokesperson for a brand, possibly Neutrogena, to demonstrate her girl-next-door persona.
-Continue to help promote High School Musical 2 to show her dedication to the film and to Disney and reassure fans that she is also dedicated to her character, Gabriella.
Appear on the Emmy awards in September, either to present an award, or to promote and show dedication to the success of High School Musical 2 with her costars.
-Appear on the cover of a magazine, particularly Teen Vogue or Cosmo Girl, displaying her sincerity and girl-next-door persona, and also displaying an interview admitting to her mistakes, apologizing, and moving on.

Timetable:
-About 4 months for the entire campaign
-About 1 month for preparation and research and planning, including scheduling media events and interviews.
-Hopefully only a couple days to prepare for an appearance on the Emmy’s.
-About 3 months to continue the promotion of High School Musical 2 with her costars.
-About 2 months to prepare for coverage in a magazine and an interview with either Cosmo Girl or Teen Vogue.

Evaluation:
-See if viewers to the High School Musical films have risen after the PR campaign is run for Vanessa.
-If the campaign is successful, Disney will regain trust and respect Vanessa and cast her in the 3rd installment of the High School Musical series.
-The hype over her nude photographs will no longer be a huge scandal if the campaign is a success.
-The sales of the magazine and number of viewers watching her appearance on talk shows would indicate if people are still interested in Vanessa or if she has lost much of her fan base
